Our Mission

Hikma Health creates free and open source digital health solutions for clinics caring for refugees, migrants, and low-income patients.

At Hikma Health, we realize that several such underserved populations are confronted with a disjointed medical system. To solve this, we partner with nonprofit organizations providing healthcare in underserved and refugee populations. We create customized data systems for these healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes. We analyze health data to support delivery of personalized healthcare to refugees.

By prioritizing the particular needs of patient populations, we ensure that no matter where they go, their stories will be carried forward in a meaningful way.

We are driven by our vision to empower our patients and physicians with Hikma – the Arabic term for healing wisdom. Hikma Health is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the United States.

Our Approach

By deploying our product through our clinical partners on the ground, we anticipate positive outcomes for patient health and provider utility on three levels.

  • We empower refugees and underserved populations by giving them direct access to their health data and related educational materials. They can also easily port their data in and out of the Hikma Health system as needed if they see physicians outside the Hikma Health network.

  • We offer clinicians data-driven tools to support clinical decisions. We support physicians by optimally structuring patient data for rapid review. Any clinician using the Hikma system anywhere, if authorized by their patient, will be able to access the patient’s whole record, even if some of the data was collected at a different clinic. Our predictive analytics include a recommendation engine based on the individual patient’s case so the physician can work more efficiently.

  • We enable clinic managers to anticipate needs and challenges, and plan their logistics accordingly. Our predictive models for operational support rather than clinical support will require less data because of the relatively constrained system. These clinic managers have some of the most challenging jobs, and accordingly have been some of the biggest advocates for adopting the Hikma Health system.
